The Tome of the Night Sky (夜天の書 Yaten no Sho, Ger. "Buch der Nachthimmel") is the Device (being part of Reinforce) used by Hayate Yagami in the end of A's. It is also the Storage Device she created and used in StrikerS, based on the design of the original one. Reinforce Zwei has a similar Device called the Book of the Azure Sky.

EtymologyEdit

"Tome of the Night Sky" was the original simplified name of the Book of Darkness.

Note that "Buch der Nachthimmel" is not proper German, since "Himmel" ("Sky") is masculine and the name should therefore be "Buch des Nachthimmels". On the other hand, "Nachthimmel" can also be read as a plural ("Night Skies"), in which case the German name is grammatically correct.

AppearancesEdit

The original Tome of the Night Sky, disregarding its history, appears in A's when Hayate sets up Reinforce for the first time.^[1] It was later destroyed along with Reinforce.

The new Tome of the Night Sky which Hayate uses in StrikerS first appears in the A's manga epilogue (in Nanoha's flashback). It makes its official appearance in the first episode of StrikerS. It also features in Force.

Hayate uses it to store her spells, as opposed to actually casting magic (for which she uses the Schwertkreuz).
