Magical Record Lyrical Nanoha Force (魔法戦記リリカルなのはForce Mahō Senki Ririkaru Nanoha Force, "Magical War Chronicle Lyrical Nanoha Force"), is an on-going manga that takes place six years after Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS. Like the other entries, the story focuses on the Bible of Silver Cross, a magical tome based off an ancient Belkan tome and features the former members of Riot Force 6 joining forces again to form Special Duty Section 6. The series is illustrated by Yukari Higa (of Shina Dark fame) and written by Masaki Tsuzuki.

Title
Edit
The manga's title was the first one in the series to not contain "Magical Girl" in it, signifying the departure from the original magical girl genre (which has been a continuous trend in the series for a long time).
"Force" can be interpreted as a pun on "fourth" in Japanese pronunciation, because Force is chronologically the fourth major entry in the main Nanoha continuity to star Nanoha Takamachi in a major role (SSX didn't feature her at all, while ViVid focuses on Vivio). Additionally, the new heroine Lily is also coded Strosek-4th.
Chapters
Edit
All chapters were originally given English titles in the Japanese manga, but official katakana spellings were added retroactively later. Each chapter title is fully styled as "Record0X:「Title」", except the prologue, which was simply "Record00".
| # | Title | Published |
|---|---|---|
| 00 | "Prologue" | 30 April 2009 |
| The prologue chapter consists of a series of flashbacks and flash-forwards of the actual manga. | ||
| 01 | "Engage" (エンゲージ Engēji) | 30 July 2009 |
| The chapter opens with Thoma sending a message to someone he calls "Su-chan" in Mid-Childa from a church in Ruwella. He is traveling to explore the local ruins with his Intelligent Device Steed. Upon arrival, he discovers a small armed force moving out of the ruins. Immediately thereafter he is telepathically contacted by Lily Strosek from inside the ruins, asking to help her, and sneaks in. Finding Lily, he suddenly feels pain in his left eye, which changes color to silvery-gray and starts to bleed. Nevertheless, he frees her as the military notices the intrusion and prepares in incinerate everything inside the ruins. Although his magic is too weak to stop incineration, he is boosted by Lily and both survive. Thoma emerges from the wreckage, displaying characteristics of someone in Unison and destroys the entire military force and much of the ruins with a single shot from the Divider. Snapping out, he is surprised to see his new outfit and Device, which quickly dissolve, as well as a silver "Engage Ring" Lily gave to him. After a formal introduction, Thoma and Lily hastily leave the ruins. Meanwhile in St. Valerie Airport on Fedikia, Fate Testarossa, Teana Lanster, and Shario Finieno confiscate some stolen goods but the things they are looking for, the Silver Cross and the Divider, are not among them. The chapter closes with them stating that they'll not allow anyone to be infected with "Eclipse" and capture anyone already infected. | ||
| 02 | "Lily-Strosek" (リリィ・シュトロゼック Rirī Shutorozekku) | 30 September 2009 |
| Teana investigates the destruction of a village on Easter, where a heavily injured survivor describes the attackers as "a man with a weird gun and a woman with a black book". Teana concludes that the culprit must be an Eclipse infectee, while one of her aides suggests to investigate the Hückebein family. Meanwhile, Fate and Shario are working on the same case in Vaizen, while Hayate Yagami, now commander of TSAB Marine Forces, and Rein prepare for a press conference on Mid-Childa. In the meantime, Thoma and Lily arrive to the Port Town, Ruwella. Thoma stops at Isis Eaglet's shop to buy clothes for Lily, hastily leaving when Isis notices their Rings. After they leave, Isis is questioned about Thoma by the police, who suspect he is involved in a "theft" case at the mines. Isis rushes off to warn them and although Thoma effectively admits being a thief, leads them out through a back alley before the police arrives. After a formal introduction, the trio decides to travel together. | ||
| 03 | "Hückebein" (フッケバイン Fukkebain) | 30 November 2009 |
| The chapter opens with Signum and Agito inspecting the ruins on Ruwella where Thoma met Lily, reaffirming their intent to capture the suspect at all costs. Out in the forests, Thoma and Lily explain their situation to Isis. Thoma plans to ensure Lily's safety and then contact "Su-chan", who is a TSAB member. He then inadvertently summons the Divider again but Lily explains how to dismiss it, though she doesn't know much more. Before the girls fall asleep, Thoma explains that he has been traveling to find clues about criminals who destroyed his village on Vaizen seven years ago. Back at the ruins, Agito reports to Teana, who comments that Thoma is unlikely one of "Hückebein". Signum notes that she feels almost like before a battle. The next morning, Thoma, Lily, and Isis reach a Saint Church but Thoma detects the smell of blood and enters it alone. Inside, he finds bodies of three dead nuns and a strange man sitting on the altar with a Divider nearby. The man orders him to hand over "Divider and Reactor", while Thoma realizes that he bears the same tattoo as the ones who destroyed his village. | ||
| 04 | "Eclipse" (エクリプス Ekuripusu) | 30 January 2010 |
| Thoma demands to know whether the man was the one who killed the nuns and destroyed his village on Vaizen before a fight erupts, wherein Thoma shows extraordinary proficiency with his Divider. After hearing Thoma's story, the man mocks him for his lack of understanding of the current situation. Thoma fully activates the Divider and attacks again but is soon knocked out. Isis rushes in between them but the man leaves, introducing himself as "Veyron of Hückebein Family" and saying that Thoma should seek him out. Outside, he is contacted by Arnage and tells her that he didn't retrieve the Divider because Thoma is "completely infected by the Eclipse", so he will come to them on his own. Meanwhile, in Cranagan, Hayate welcomes Erio Mondial and Caro Ru Lushe, who have been assigned to her unit again, and they discuss a countermeasure to "Zero Effect" that Vita has been testing. At the same time, Subaru Nakajima meets up with Nanoha Takamachi at a dimensional port on Mid-Childa, and they talk about a boy Subaru introduced to her, who turns out to be Thoma. | ||
| 05 | "Blood & Flame" (ブラッド&フレーム Buraddo & Furēmu) | 30 March 2010 |
| In the afternoon, news of the church massacre have reached Port Town and the population is advised to exercise caution. The culprit is believed to be Thoma, who is still hiding in the woods with bad fever. Isis goes to the town to buy food and medicine, leaving Lily to watch over Thoma. On her way back, she contemplates how dangerous it is for her to stay with them but decides not to abandon her friends. Meanwhile, Veyron returns to the Hückebein base, greeted by Arnage and Stella. He then meets up with Fortis and Deville, who inform him that Riot Force 6 has been reformed to secure the Divider, with Hückebein targeted as well. Fortis also notes that they still haven't found Veyron's own Divider, but he says he is fine with his 928. Back on Ruwella, Thoma dreams of his past life on Vaizen and the present with Subaru, stating that if Veyron dares to take it away, too, he will kill him. With this, he awakens and throws up. Lily fails to reach him or Isis telepathically, but at this moment Cypha of Hückebein finds them and attempts to seize Thoma by force. Just as she is about to kill Lily, she is stopped by Signum and Agito, who arrive to arrest all three of them, introducing themselves as members of Special Duty Section 6. | ||
| 06 | "Eclipse Driver" (エクリプスドライバー Ekuripusu Doraibā) | 30 April 2010 |
| Signum gives another warning to Cypha, who instead orders Lily to watch her to "remember what [she] should become" and faces Signum, weapons drawn. Evacuation orders are issued in Port Town, while Isis hurries to her friends' aid, revealing herself as an aerial mage. Meanwhile, Signum manages to lightly wound Cypha, then enters Unison with Agito. After confirming that Cypha wields a Divider and that she was among the responsible for the massacre on the Uninhabited World #14 three month earlier, Signum attacks again and completely severs Cypha's right hand at the shoulder, which damages Laevatein. Cypha is able to regenerate her arm thanks to the "mid-stages infection by the Eclipse", but Agito and Signum prepare to capture her, nonetheless. Cypha then transforms her dagger and katana into twin swords, apparently the "Full Drive" form of her Divider, and dares Signum to attack. At this moment, Isis finds Lily and Thoma and urges them to escape. Instead, upon regaining consciousness, Thoma pushes her away and screams in pain, and Cypha comments that he is already one of them. On Vaizen, Subaru is informed that Thoma is likely one of the culprits, but resolves to confirm it herself. | ||
| 07 | "Reactor" (リアクター Riakutā) | 29 May 2010 |
| The chapter opens with a Thoma's flashback of his first meeting with Subaru on Vaizen. The two, sharing similar experiences, quickly grew fond of each other, and Subaru arranged for him to be taken to an orphanage. After he grew up, the Nakajima family offered to adopt him, but he decided to go on a journey before giving an answer. The flashback switches to a vision of Veyron who incites hate in Thoma, and he stands up, having apparently lost control of himself. Cypha asks Signum whether he will be ever able to live normally. Meanwhile, on Vaizen, Vita, Teana, Fate, and Nanoha scramble to assist Signum. Signum and Agito unison out to attack Cypha and Thoma, respectively. However, Cypha effortlessly breaks Laevatein and slashes Signum across the chest. She then knocks Agito with a bombardment spell before pinning Signum to the ground with one of her swords. Thoma almost attacks Lily and Isis but all of them are restrained by Arnage, who knocks them out with a sleeping gas. She explains to Cypha that she brought means of transportation for three people with her, and persuades her to bring Lily and Isis along with Thoma. | ||
